2009 Year-end Stats

Here’s the numbers. Run miles didn’t go quite as high as I would have liked mostly due to a 6 week stretch in the spring dealing with injury.  Bike miles were up, most of that was on the knobby tires.  Real happy with the hours, averaged over 10 per week for first time.

Race Report: 2009 Rock Trot

For the third year in a row, we started our Thanksgiving Day by running a family 5k down in Castle Rock.  It’s turning into a great tradition.  The race is laid back, but organized well.  It’s fun for the kids to get the matching T-shirts.

2009 Rock Trot

Prior years have been cold and dreary – not today!  Beautiful and warm.  It seems the crowds were out in record number, raising a lot of money for a good cause.  The course was mostly on a bike path, so I didn’t get much running in trying to navigate through the crowds pushing Jessica in the stroller.  With a little less than a mile to go, the course opened up and we were able to get up to speed.  Then I let Jessica get out and run the rest of the way to the finish – she did great!

Everyone did great and had fun.  Then we stuffed ourselves with a wonderful meal.

Moab Facebook

Took a trip to Moab a couple of weeks ago and did a lot more hiking than I usually do out there (always running/biking).  It was great to spend time with the family and take the kids to some really cool places.  We had fun spotting ‘faces’ in the rock walls.  Here are a few samples:

The rest can be viewed here.

During the week we were in town, my 7th grade daughter spotted license plates from 44 states and 4 Canadian provinces!  Maine, Louisiana, North Dakota, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Hawaii were the no-shows.  Y’all missed a great time!
