That Jessica again…

I love my kids dearly. Little Jessica especially melts my heart. She’s 2 1/2 and has been talking since before her first birthday. She’s developed quite a vocabulary! Always keeps us laughing with the things she comes up with.

Tonight, as I was taking her upstairs for a bath, we paused at a mirror. I had been telling her how much I loved her. Then I said, “Jessica, you’re growing up so fast!” To which she replied matter-of-factly, “Dad, I’m too little to grow up.”

My mom, the painter.

Dad just sent over some photos of my mom’s latest work. Looks like she’s been busy!! I have fond memories of a shared interest in painting with Mom. When I was a teenager, inspired by the PBS show ‘The Joy of Painting’ with Bob Ross (R.I.P.), we armed ourselves with oils, brushes, and canvas and hacked around for a while. Man, that guy made painting look effortless! For some strange reason – as I followed along and tried to copy his strokes, my results looked like the work of a dog that had just walked through a puddle of paint and stepped all over the canvas. No match for his beatiful landscapes! Now about 20 years later, Mom has gotten the bug and is taking classes and enjoying putting brush to canvas again. Great job, Mom! The paintings look super!
